National Brands using National Highway-17 for Their"Brand recall"
National Brands like HDFC bank, Ultratech Cement and SBI bank has dominance in this space as off today. Surprisingly our local brands are igonorant about this opportunity, especially those brands which depends on tourists for their Biz. (eg. Hotels and Restaurants, Shopping centres, Tour operators etc)
Nearly 15 lacs domestic tourists visit Goa every year, lot of them take bikes and taxis and go along exploring the beautiful Goa. Visuals of Green Goa, offerings of tender cocunuts, vegetable vendors and offcourse the sign boards along the road occupy space in every tourists' minds. No one will deny that every tourist, especially the ones exploring Goa on their own, depend heavily on sign posts along the road. It is a space watched by every tourist carefully.
I remember when Docomo was just entering Goa market, every signpost on Margao-Panjim road was telling commuters about Docomo.
ICICI uses lot of space available on the Barrier Gates used by traffic police for Nakabandi routines.
All these various spaces available on the roads are very useful in giving your brand a continuous recall.
Local players from Goa should start making use of such branding opportunities.
Players like Caculo Mall and Big- G store can not only use this for their brand publicity but i am sure will see increase in footfalls, due to such aggressive branding. (As the old Indian marketing saying goes " Jo Dhikta hai woh Bikta hai"...what is seen by people is bought by people)
Corporate players like Dempo, Fomento, Salgoncar and Chowgule should look at these spaces to promote social messages on road safety, Environment etc as part of their social corporate responsibility campaigns.
And, most importantly, this space is not only to target tourists, lot of local public is also on the move on these roads.
